Wind, cloud and flight at White Rock Beach

A brisk breeze made it a perfect evening for a walk along the beach.

I was talking to my brother, who was working in Kitimat, the snow capital of BC, for those of you who are unaware.

I remember Kitimat; I lived there once. Moved to the town in February, but didn't see it till April. Too much snow piled everywhere.

He reported that of course it was snowing there, and I was glad that in White Rock, even as dusk fell, there was no need even to wear gloves.

Floodlit waters of English Bay at night

Who knew where the Emperor Trench was, or the many named undersea fracture lines?

Then there was the reading catch-up. Still two Anne Perry Christmas mysteries behind.

Hockey on the Serpentine dike and raccoons in the night

Hard to believe the Serpentine ponds were frozen over enough to accommodate outdoor skating. In our climate, that is a rarity indeed.

Snow is soft and it's also revealing. Here's evidence of furry nocturnal visitors.

Winter colours observed while walking

A stroll in Bear Creek Park is a daily study in colour and light. These pictures were taken just two days apart, on opposite sides of the same trail.
