My neighbour has known Haida and fashion artist Dorothy Grant since she was a teenager. For many years Pinky has done meticulous fine hand stitching on her friend's traditional Haida-inspired clothing designs. I was delighted to meet the artist when she came by to pick up a blue white and black scarf my friend Pinky had appliqued.
This internationally recognized couturier is a fashion leader and a mentor to other Native North American fashionistas. Her creation of unique Haida clothing designs will soon be formally recognized.
On May 8, Ms Grant will be invested with the Order of Canada. More of her stunning designer clothing can be seen here.
