The spire of Dublin

"I can't get it all in," I complained to Keara, so she took this picture for me. It's misleading, though. The Spire in Dublin is tall rather than wide. In recognition of this feature, the locals have awarded it several witty epithets, including the spike, the nail, and the stiletto heel.
The Spire is located in the middle of the wide boulevard of O'Connell Street, close to the GPO where the Easter Rising of 1916 began. In two years' time, the nation will hark back to that history as it celebrates its hundredth anniversary as an independent nation.
